Mowing and Trimming of Grass - 2

The Town of Pownal is hereby inviting bids for the mowing and trimming of grass at the following Wastewater Pump Stations, and the Fire Pond:

Station Names/Locations:

  5. PV2 - 61 Palmer Drive

  7. PC1 - 70 School House Road
  8. PC2 - 215 West Meadow Road
  9. PC3 - 353 Jackson Cross Road
  10. PC4 - 223 Jackson Cross Road
  11. Fire Pond- School House Road

STANDARDS:
This is a 2-year bid period.

Any damage resulting from the winter's plowing/shoveling activities must be repaired (lawn cleared of rocks/debris and re-seeded where necessary) prior to the first mowing.

All lawns will be maintained in a neat and presentable appearance at all times, April 15, 2019 through October 31, 2019 and April 15, 2020 through October 31, 2020.

All sites will be mowed to a maximum height of 3" and trimmed at least once per week, except if not required during very dry periods.

All areas around the pump stations buildings, fence areas, etc., shall be kept neatly trimmed. Any grass accidentally thrown onto the buildings by the mower shall be wiped off prior to leaving the site.

The fire pond on School House Rd. requires mowing and trimming of the berm four (4) times during each mowing year, June 1st, July 1st, August 1st and September 1st. Contractor is to mow and trim inside and mow four feet (4ft) outside fence. Trim hydrant area.

NOTES:
Please note that the lawn around Pump Station NP4, located at the North Pownal ballfield, will not be included in this bid, but will be mowed as part of the Town's general mowing bid (mowing of ballfields, cemeteries, town office, churches, etc.) so as to maintain consistency with the rest of the ballfield's lawn.

Pump Station PC1 does not have a lawn area, but will need to be kept trimmed and neat in appearance.

  5. N. Pownal Little League Field Rte. 346 and pump station NP4
  6. Little League Field at Green Mountain Park

  8. Cemetery Jackson Crossing Rd.
  9. Gardner Cemetery North Pownal Rd.
  10. Cemetery at Carpenter Hill Rd.
  11. Cemetery on Orchard St.
  12. Former Tannery Mill Bldg. site off Vt. 346 in North Pownal

The North Pownal ballfield requires mowing and trimming preferably on Fridays for Saturday morning usage effective through July 31, 2019 and July 31, 2020. This includes the lawn area around wastewater pump station NP4. The ballfield is to be mowed to a maximum height of 1 1/2" to 2 1/2". There afterwards, mowed to a maximum height of 3" at least once per week except if not required during very dry periods.

The Little League Field at the Green Mountain Park requires mowing every other week to a maximum height of 3".

The other sites will be mowed to a maximum height of 3" and trimmed at least once per week except if not required during very dry periods.

American flags are to be checked and/or replaced at sites 1, 4,7,8,9, & 12 during the first mowing. Replacement flags will be provided by the municipality.

Cemeteries will be free of debris from trees, cut grass. Any incidental damage to cemetery plot or headstone will be the responsibility of the awardee.
